Mobile Handoff
Pair your phone with a desktop walkthrough session to capture evidence screenshots. Both devices stay in sync while you audit.
Why pair a phone
What the phone is for depends on what you are auditing:
- Website audits. Some checks suggest testing on a mobile browser as well as a desktop one. Pairing your phone lets you run those checks on a real device and capture evidence screenshots as you go.
- Mobile app audits. The app you are auditing lives on your phone, so the phone is where the evidence is. Run the walkthrough on desktop, switch between the app under test and the paired walkthrough on your phone, and when a check fails, attach a screenshot of the app straight from your phone's photo library.
The pairing prompt on desktop is titled "You can use your phone to capture screenshots" and mentions mobile browsers, but pairing works exactly the same way for iOS and Android app audits.
Pairing your phone
- Log in to app.auditsu.com on your phone.
- Navigate to the same audit.
That's it; there is no pairing code. Whatever you do on one device is captured on the other.
The prompt has two dismissal options: Got it hides it for the current surface in this session, and Don't show this again stops it appearing on that browser permanently.
Live sync between devices
While two devices are open on the same audit, a presence chip in the audit chrome shows that you are also active elsewhere, for example "Also active on phone". Sync is live in both directions:
- A verdict recorded on one device appears on the other, and the walkthrough advances on both
- Skipping ahead on one device moves the other to the same check
- The Create a ticket dialog stays mirrored: the description and assignee you enter on one device appear on the other, and a screenshot attached on your phone shows as "Screenshot attached on the other device" on desktop
A typical app audit flow
- Open the walkthrough on desktop and pair your phone.
- For each check, perform the test in the app on your phone, for example with VoiceOver or TalkBack running.
- Record the verdict on either device.
- When a check fails, take a screenshot of the app on your phone, then attach it to the ticket from your photo library in the mirrored Create a ticket dialog.
The same flow works for website audits; the only difference is that you test in the phone's browser rather than in an installed app. See creating tickets for what happens to the ticket next.
